Job Description

The Manager, Admissions (Policy & Operations), is responsible for leading a team in effectively managing the Admissions operations. He/she is required to support the recruitment of qualified applicants for admissions to the University in accordance with the University’s admissions standards. He/she is responsible for managing the annual admissions exercise to achieve application and matriculation targets. He/she will be expected to play a key operational role, which includes running the annual Admissions exercise and managing the Student Information System. This position will also support the Division's other focus areas such as recruitment and outreach, financial assistance and scholarships. The Manager, Admissions (Policy & Operations) reports to the Head, Admissions Policy & Operations, with added accountability to Director, Admissions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works with management to develop and implement a holistic student admissions system
  • Leads a team in running the end-to-end operations of Admissions work
  • Ensures that all University’s admissions policies and procedures are strictly adhered to by the team
  • Adheres to all policies regarding student recruitment
  • Generates admission statistics for internal and external stakeholders (eg. management and other divisions in the university, Ministry of Education and other government bodies, etc.), and statistical analysis (e.g. correlation studies)
  • Participates in recruitment and enrollment activities, including open houses, SIT talks and road shows
  • Ensures all schedules and interview sessions during the admissions exercise are well coordinated to ensure operation is seamless
  • Works closely with partners and Programme Directors to achieve enrollment goals
  • Maintains the online Student Information System (Admissions portal), while continually assessing and enhancing it to ensure that the required specifications and business processes are in place and the deliverables match
  • Ad hoc projects on an assignment basis

Experience and requirements:

  • A degree from a good University, or extensive skills or experience in lieu of a degree
  • Proven track record with at least 5 years of experience, preferably in an educational environment, with exposure to systems and operational work
  • At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory/managerial role with 2 or more direct reports
  • Experience in admissions or registrar's work preferably with marketing and communications exposure will be an advantage. Work experience in an international environment is an added asset
  • Strong project management skills with excellent attention to details
  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills; Strong communication skills (e.g. oral, written, public speaking); strong people-management and interpersonal skills
