Head EHS Management & Innovation/ Group Safety Officer
Reporting to the Chief Sustainability Officer, you will champion the Group's sustainability initiatives relating to Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) through strategic leadership and collaborative engagement to elevate the Group’s EHS operational excellence across its real estate life cycle, foster a culture where EHS is a core value and workplace safety is of upmost importance, and that EHS is viewed as both risk management as well as value creation.
EHS Management & Innovation
Serve as an EHS subject matter expert to internal as well as external stakeholders and deliver the latest thinking, innovation, research and science to accelerate EHS outcomes
Monitor and report on emerging global EHS trends and regulatory directions to feed into the business strategies, including the collection and analysis of relevant data, and recommend improvements
Lead innovative EHS technologies and solutions as well as internal EHS committees to drive sustainability performance
Work with business and functional units to conduct EHS impact assessments to ensure that new investments and existing assets are aligned with sustainability targets and create/improve value
Lead technical policy dialogue with government/regulators/agencies on key EHS issues and where possible, shape potential incentives/penalties schemes and develop partnerships.
As Group Safety Officer, lead and manage workplace safety policies/programmes in accordance with ISO 45001 and other international standards to eliminate fatality and injury at owned and/or managed workplaces
Work with business and functional units as well as other stakeholders to promote a progressive and pervasive workplace safety culture
Conduct joint investigations with business units and Group Risk Management in event of workplace safety incidents for reporting to Group’s Safety Council
Initiate inspections/audits on workplace safety practices and recommend policy, process and/or product feature improvements to mitigate workplace safety risks.
Excellent degree in a technical field (e.g. Environmental Science/Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety) or a similar field
Minimum 12 years of demonstrated passion for working on EHS initiatives with an innovative and pragmatic approach, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in managing construction projects in an EHS related area or technical experience in environmental sustainability is an advantage.
Track record in implementing a global health and safety management system and thorough knowledge of ISO45001 and Occupational Health & Safety regulations
Demonstrated ability to engage, establish collaborative relationships and build trust with various stakeholders as well as lead cross-functional groups
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a cross-disciplinary audience
Strong organizational and planning skills
Prepared to travel overseas occasionally for work
